The Arizona Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu League’s mission is to promote and encourage the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the State of Arizona, endorsing schools and instructors qualified to teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The AZBJJL is an organization that follows most of the rules and regulations of the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, which is the sport’s highest authority. We are committed to promoting the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Tournaments in the Southwest.
The 5th degree black belt and owner, Gustavo Dantas, has been promoting BJJ Tournaments in Arizona without a break since 2001 in Arizona, becoming one of the most consistent tournament promoters in the World.
Gustavo’s first event had forty competitors inside a school, where kept promoting until 2005 when the tournament finally broke 100 competitors for the first time. Currently in 2021, we offer eight events per year with the biggest tournaments reaching 1400 competitors!
We also works in conjunction with Jiu Jitsu Tribe, a non-profit organization that aims to inspire positive change in the lives of impoverished communities through the study and implementation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
We are committed to offering high quality BJJ events, helping practitioners, directly and indirectly, to achieve their personal goals and improve key life skills that can be developed through competitions such as discipline, work ethic, dealing with failure and success, creating the habit of getting out of your comfort zone, facing fears and anxieties, as well as dealing with under pressure situations.
