AZBJJF - 2019 No Gi AZ State Championship

This No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition will offer Juveniles, Adult and Masters Divisions for Blue, Purple, Brown & Black belts (No white Belt)

TIME & LOCATION:

The AZBJJF - 2019 AZ State NoGi Jiu-Jitsu Championship will take place on August the 10th at Phoenix College located at 1202 W. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85013

FEES:

Early Bird Registration Fee before FRIDAY 07/19/2019 @11:59PM

Juveniles and Adults (16 and up) – $78

Normal Registration Fee from SATURDAY 07/20/2019 to FRIDAY 08/02/2019 @11:59PM

Juveniles and Adults (16 and up) – $88

Late Registration Fee from SATURDAY 08/03/2019 to MONDAY 08/05/2019 @11:59PM

Juveniles and Adults (16 and up) – $100

All registrations must be received by Monday, August 5th 2019 by 11:59 pm

SPECTATOR FEES:

$10 (Children under 12 is Free) - Attention parents, your child’s registration does not include the spectator fee. This is payable at the door by cash or card.

No-GI Jiu-Jitsu Uniform Requirements:

Men:

Board shorts, primarily black, white or black with white and with up to 50% of their rank color (belt), with no pockets or with pockets entirely stitched shut, and must reach at least halfway down the thigh (no more than 15 cm from the knee). Attached metal or plastic of any kind that may hurt the opponent is expressly forbidden on the board shorts.

Men are permitted the use of pants, shorts or trunks of elastic fabric (clings to body), as long as they are the color black and worn under the regulation shorts.

Shirt of elastic fabric (clings to body) at a length that covers the shorts’ waist band, of black, white or black and white color, and displaying at least 10% of the color of the rank (belt) to which the athlete belongs. Shirts that are 100% the color of the rank (belt) the athlete belongs to are also acceptable.

Athletes must wear undergarments. The use of thong-type undergarments is not permitted; only brief-type undergarments may be worn.

Women:

AWARDS:

The tournament is single elimination. 

Medals will be awarded to the 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place of each division. 

Athletes will not compete for the third place. Two bronze medals will be given.

The top 5 academies in the Adult division will receive team trophies.

WEIGH-INS:

Before his/her first fight, the athlete will check his/her weight with the Gi. 

There is only one opportunity to check the weight. If the competitor does not make his/her weight, they will be immediately disqualified. There is no tolerance on weight allowed. 

Please make sure that you are in the correct weight division. You can not change divisions, if you do not make your designated division. No changes will be accepted in the tournament day, no refund.

Example: -122.5 lbs (Rooster) means athlete must weigh 122.5 lbs or below with their No Gi gear on, 122.6 lbs will result in a disqualification.

OTHERS:

Athletes will receive a complimentary event t-shirt which they should pick up at the event. All shirts must be picked up at the event’s shirt booth. GD Events is not responsible for shipping forgotten t-shirts.

Athletes who place in 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their division will receive a medal at the event. All competitors must wear the gi on the podium. All the medals must be picked up at the event’s podium. GD Events is not responsible for shipping medals.

Each team can only have two athletes in the same division bracket (of age/weight/belt). If your team has more than 2 athletes in the same division, the professor needs to email [email protected] prior to professor’s correction deadline in order to create different teams for the same academy. This rule does not prevent you from registering for the event.

GD Events reserves the right to close registration when we reach full capacity, or on the day of the appointed event registration deadline, whichever comes first.

Before each fight, athletes will be asked to show their valid form of photo identification (ID) to the officials. Make sure you have it on hand

It is the responsibility of the athlete to be knowledgeable of the rules and guidelines pertaining to the sport (as outlined in the IBJJF Rules Book). Please refer to the ibjjf.com website for the latest rules.

This tournament is organized by the GD Events in partnership with the Arizona Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (AZBJJF).
